The project Archival Chain Reactions treats archives as infrastructures of care. They are not stable deposits but social formations that must be built, maintained, and repaired if they are to remain, in Butler's phrase, “inhabitable ground” for those who come after.
That understanding comes from the works themselves. Grouped under Infrastructures of Care, they attend to birth, feeding, ageing, and burial, as well as to forms of kinship that hold across generations, classes, or species. Care appears here as a technique with its own history, its own labour, and its own violence, rather than as private sentiment; also it is routinely unpaid and assumed.
