Plural, because the tactics do not converge. These works were made under dictatorship, under state and parastate violence, under surveillance, and under the pressures of labour markets and of what is allowed in public spaces.
Some confront power directly; some make the body the surface on which damage is registered; some proceed slowly and become confrontation only when they meet the world as it is. Works made decades and continents apart sometimes take up the same case by entirely different means. What links them is a refusal to treat a situation as given.
Such work is also the hardest to archive. Made in the street and tied to political action, it leaves the fewest documents, belongs to no collection, and disappears first.
